BioFuelNet Canada is a Network of Centres of Excellence that brings together the Canadian biofuels research community. The objective of BioFuelNet is to aggressively address the challenges impeding the growth of an advanced biofuels industry, which is a key component of the energy mix of the future. Advanced biofuels are produced from non-food materials, such as algae, agricultural waste, forestry by-products and municipal waste.
BioFuelNet currently funds 64 collaborative research projects across the country, uniting academia, industry and government, in order to find unique advanced biofuels solutions for Canada. BioFuelNet facilitates the coordination and optimization of research by specifically addressing gaps that prevent commercialization of advanced biofuels. By pooling research expertise and working with partners in industry and government, BioFuelNet will identify best practices and technologies, and guide policy, research and development. Learn more
